What We Check

Every check comes with a pass/fail result and specific fix instructions.

URL Resolves

The URL must eventually reach a working page (HTTP 200).

No Redirect Loop

Redirect loops (A to B to A) cause infinite redirects and ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS.

Max 3 Hops

Each redirect adds latency. Google follows up to 10 but recommends 3 or fewer.

Uses 301

301 redirects pass ~95% of link equity. 302s are temporary and do not transfer SEO value.

HTTPS Final URL

The final destination should use HTTPS for security and SEO ranking signals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this tool and how to use the results.

Why do redirect chains matter for SEO?
Each redirect hop loses about 5% of link equity. Three redirects in a chain means the final page gets ~15% less authority than a direct link.
What is the difference between 301 and 302?
301 is permanent (passes SEO value), 302 is temporary (does not pass full link equity). Use 301 for permanent URL changes.
How many redirects are too many?
Google follows up to 10 hops but recommends 3 or fewer. Each hop adds latency and dilutes link equity.
